By booking and taking lessons with Furze-Painter Driving School, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Lessons & Tests

  • You must inform your Instructor if there is any reason you cannot drive safely or legally. This includes, but is not limited to, the loss of a valid driving licence or being under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or prescribed medication that may impair your ability to drive.

  • You must ensure you are medically fit to drive. If you have a medical condition that may affect your ability to drive, consult your doctor and notify the DVLA of any notifiable condition.

  • You must be able to read a vehicle number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres.

  • Furze-Painter Driving School reserves the right to refuse to take you to your driving test if:

    • You book a test without your Instructor’s knowledge,

    • You fail to reschedule your test date when advised by your Instructor, or

    • Your Instructor deems you not yet competent to drive safely during a test in the tuition vehicle.

  • Your Instructor will discuss test readiness and options with you in advance.

  • Any fines or penalty points incurred while you are driving during lessons are your responsibility. By law, the Instructor must name the actual driver at the time of any offence.

2. Cancellations & Punctuality

  • First lesson payments are due to be paid at time of booking to secure your lesson and First lesson payments are non refundable

  • All payments after your first lesson are due at least 2 Days in advance of the lesson unless otherwise agreed. Failure to pay on time may result in your lesson being cancelled and offered to another student.

  • If you cancel a lesson with less than 2 Days’ notice, you will be liable for the full cost. If the Instructor is able to fill your slot with another student, charges may be waived, though this is not guaranteed.

  • Instructors will wait outside at the lesson location. If you have not arrived or contacted your Instructor within 15 minutes, your lesson will be considered cancelled and charged accordingly.

  • Late arrivals will reduce your lesson time, but the full lesson fee will still apply.

  • Students are expected to take a minimum of two lessons per month. Repeated cancellations (more than three without valid reason) may result in your lesson slot being offered to another student.

  • If your Instructor is late due to unavoidable circumstances (e.g., mechanical issues, adverse weather, traffic delays, or previous lessons/tests overrunning), your lesson will be rescheduled to a mutually convenient time, and you will receive the full lesson duration.

3. Pupil Responsibility

  • Lessons may be immediately cancelled if your Instructor considers your behaviour or attitude while driving to be threatening, dangerous, or otherwise compromising safety. This may also result in the cancellation of future lessons.

4. General

  • Furze-Painter Driving School aims to provide a high standard of instruction and service. These Terms & Conditions are in place to support this goal.

  • Payment and cancellation policies may be waived at the discretion of individual Instructors under certain circumstances.
